Asimina triloba Half Standard
Origin: Eastern United States. Deciduous small tree or large shrub, with broad, conical habit, compact. Large dark green leaves, up to 25 cm long, 12 cm broad, a lovely yellow in autumn. Unusual, very attractive flowers, cupshaped, 5-6 cm broad, formed of 6 brownish-purple petals in spring, at the same time as the first leaves. Ovoidal edible fruits, called paw paws in the United States, which taste like a ripe banana. They ripen at the end of summer. No particular growing requirements, thrives in all garden soils.
