Alnus glutinosa

Native to Europe and North Africa the crown is conical or oval the deciduous leaves are oval bright dark green 5 to 10 cm long the flowers are dark yellow and the fruits are oval cones 1 to 2 cm long the roots protect the soil from erosion and make it more fertile it grows in moist soils and near stagnant water
