Aesculus hippocastanum

Native to the mountains between Albania and Macedonia. Imposing tree with rounded or oval crown. The deciduous leaves turn yellow in autumn, while the flowers are grouped in an erect raceme of pyramidal shape, white with pink and red spots at the base. The fruits are spiny and contain shiny brown seeds. Grows very well in Northern Europe or in our cool valleys, in soils that are not too compact on the surface.
