Acer platanoides 'Crimson Sentry' Standard
Origin: USA. Pyramidal form of ‘Crimson King’ which becomes a very regular cone shape with thick branches from the base. Five-lobed leaves, 16-20cm long, dark purple until autumn. Beautiful flowering in April: the flowers are grouped in corymbs and have a bright red stalk and petals which make an attractive contrast with the yellow stamens. Grows well in all types of soil, including calcareous, and it is immune to disease.
